It has been really common to see students being confused to choose a stream for themselves after class tenth. I have been around such people and I know what kind of preasure they go through in this period. There is no career counseling in schools to help students out on this. So, if you are reading this to choose your stream further or to help your child do the same, you have come to the right place. This article will help you decide your stream after the class tenth.

So to keep it short, I am gonna list 5 ways to help you decide the stream you will be most interested in. Those ways are as follows:-

1) Ask yourself, Which subject do you like studying?

If you want to make a career in a particular subject, it is important that you are interested in that field. Suppose, you like studying history, and you want to enter the path of astrology, then arts would be a perfect stream for you. But before you choose the subject you want to study, you should have a clear understanding of the scope of that subject. The second point is exactly on that.

2) Research about the subject you like.

If you have been engaged a lot in environmental stuff, then you must know the career opportunities you would have in the future. Similarly, if you examine every subject's scope, then you are most likely to know your interest. You have to keep in mind that you are not only choosing a subject to study for the next two years but also choosing a career path in that subject.

Now, talking about career opportunities, every stream has numerous scope, but you would want to choose the one most applicable to your life.

3) Check Applicability

Imagine choosing a subject you are interested in but not good at. Now that would lead to a life full of struggle for you because you would have to study day and night to score well. So being good at a subject is equally important as being interested in it. You simply cannot afford to stake your future just for your interest (unless you have a lot of inherited money).

Therefore, you will have to check on which subject is most applicable to your capability. Do not misinterpret this as choosing the subject in which you score the most. You have to look for one which you understand in the best way.

4) Take assistance from your seniors/parents/teachers

The people around you, who have already gone through the same pressure as yours, will know better. I am not telling you to blindly choose a career path they are suggesting, but at least listen to them. There are a lot of pros and cons of every stream (which is not usually uploaded on the internet) and you deserve to know them before you choose any.

So, the people who have already passed plus two will be able to tell you the pros and cons of their stream. Also, your teachers and parents should be able to suggest you the stream in which you will be able to do your best.

5) See if you are interested in any vocational courses.

A lot of people in India and some other countries don't know about vocational courses but the only thing you need to examine is if you are interested in one. There are thousands of these courses but depending on your board, you will be offered only some. Some of the common courses are beauty and fashion, business administration, environmental education, IT application, etc.

This way, you can choose any stream in which you can at least score passing marks, and on the other hand, excel in your vocational course.

CONCLUSION:-

You should choose a stream in which you are both interested and good. You can also contact career counselors if you are facing a lot of difficulties. You should never decide under pressure or else you will regret it shortly. So, better to be calm than regretful.
